Here are the standard requirements for a Schengen Visa (short-stay visa – Type C), which allows you to travel for tourism, business, or visiting family/friends within the 29 Schengen countries for up to 90 days in a 180-day period.

 Schengen Visa Requirements (Tourist or Business):

1. Visa Application Form

• Completed and signed

• Available from the embassy/consulate website of the country you are applying through

2. Valid Passport

• Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your return date

• Issued within the last 10 years

• At least 2 blank pages

3. Photographs

• Two recent passport-size photos (35mm x 45mm)

• White background, matte finish

4. Travel Itinerary

• Round-trip flight reservation

• Day-wise travel plan or tour schedule

5. Proof of Accommodation

• Hotel bookings, invitation from host (if staying with family/friends), or rental agreement

6. Travel Insurance

• Coverage of at least €30,000

• Must be valid throughout the Schengen zone and for the entire duration of stay

7. Proof of Financial Means

• Recent 3-6 months bank statements

• IT returns, salary slips, or sponsorship letter if applicable

• Minimum amount: Around €50–€70 per day, depending on the country

8. Covering Letter

• Explaining purpose of visit, duration, and who is bearing the cost

• Addressed to the consulate or visa officer

9. Employment/Status Documents

Depending on your situation:

• Employees: No Objection Certificate (NOC), leave letter, salary slips

• Self-Employed: Business registration, IT returns

• Students: School/college letter, ID proof

• Retired: Pension documents or proof of retirement income

10. Visa Fee

• Usually around €90 (varies by age and nationality)

• Payable at the visa center

 Optional but Useful:

• Invitation letter (for visiting friends/family)

• Proof of property ownership or other economic ties to home country (to prove intent to return)
