Japan Tourist Visa Requirements

1. Original Passport (Valid for 3 months)
2. Photos (35mmx45mm with white background)
3. Application Form
4. Original Covering Letter (duly signed by the applicant)
5. Original NOC / Leave Approval letter from Company
6. Accommodation (to be blocked under applicant/accompanying person’s name)
7. Day-to-day Schedule
8. Accompanying person’s passport copy and visa copy (if accompanying person already has a visa)
9. Letter from the Sponsor and his/her financial documents - Latest Bank Statement (3 months) and IT Returns (3 year)
10. Blocked Tickets

PLEASE NOTE:
*Consulate General of Japan in Bengaluru will process Visa applications only for residents of Karnataka.
*In some cases, applicants may be asked to submit extra documents, in addition to the documents
indicated above. In case the applicant does not submit them, Visa cannot be processed any further.

Disclaimer: Current residence of Karnataka are eligible to apply at the Consulate General of Japan,
Bengaluru and Passport issued outside Karnataka state must provide Residence proof such as Gas
connection bills, Aadhaar card, Electricity bills etc. in addition to abovementioned documents.

Notes :

• If the applicant is owner of company

a) Proof of ownership (e.g. Director Identification Number approval issued from Ministry of Corporate Affairs or proprietorship document issued from bank or Import export license)

b) Company’s Last 3 years Income Tax Returns (In case ITR is not available, please submit bank statement of last six months)

• If the applicant is Student / Dependent child/children

a) Concern letter from parents along with government issued photo id proof

b) Parent/s Last 3 years Income Tax Returns (In case ITR is not available, please submit bank statement of last six months)

c) Proof of relationship d) Bonafide certificate or leave sanctioned letter from school/college/university

• If the applicant is dependent wife/husband

a) Concern letter from Spouse

b) Spouse’s Last 3 years Income Tax Returns (In case ITR is not available, please submit bank statement of last six months)

Japan Business Visa Requirements

• Visa application form
• Passport (Old passports if any)
• Covering letter for requesting visa from the employer. (In principle, please submit the original certificate)
• Document stating the reason for invitation (a copy is acceptable)
• Document for guarantee (a copy is acceptable)
• Company Incorporation Certificate
• Company IT returns for recent 3 years
• 3 months’ Salary slips/IT returns (may be requested)
• Day-to-day schedule as per the tickets (attached)

• If the applicant is owner of company a. Proof of ownership (e.g. Director Identification Number approval issued from Ministry of Corporate Affairs or proprietorship document issued from bank or Import export license)
• A company listed on stock exchange does not need to submit a copy of the incorporation register or an overview of the company / organization. When an individual is extending an invitation, submit the Certificate of Employment in lieu of a copy of the incorporation register or an overview of the company / organization.
• Proof of Relationship, incase the applicant is accompanied by any dependant, i.e. Passport copy, Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate.

Applicants who are eligible for a visa:

Those who meet the following requirements:

1. Indians residing in India or third-party nationals who live in India and legally stay in India for a long period of time (permanent residents or holders of long-term residence permits.)
2. A person who enters Japan via direct flights between India and Japan, or who enters Japan via third country without entering the third country.

. Purposes of visiting Japan for which applications can be accepted:

• Purposes eligible for short term visa Activities that do not involve compensation within 90 days of stay in Japan, such as business communication, business negotiations, contract signing, after-sales service, advertising, market research, conference attendance, cultural exchange, interaction between local authorities, sports meetups, etc
